Adult Ministries
These small groups of various types provide opportunities for us all to get to know one another better--to experience "a church within a church." If no contact person is listed, please contact the church office for more information by using the Contact Us link on the Site Menu or by calling 218-847-4818.
Adult Sunday School
Many different studies have been offered for adults during the 9:15-10:15 Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings, such as parenting classes, writing an ethical will, sermon discussions, “Ask the Holy Spirit,” world religions, and Upper Room devotional study. Watch for current opportunities in the newsletter or announcements.
20/40 Bible Study
Focused on a younger demographic, this study is for women in their 20s, 30s, & 40s. Its gatherings are on Sundays at 7:00 pm. The group may meet for a 6 or 8 week study, then might take a break before scheduling another series of meetings. For more information and to find out if the group is currently meeting, contact Pastor Brenda (brenda@dlumc.org).
Spirit Searching: Books & Discussion

Choir
DLUMC’s choir usually sings at the 10:30 worship on Sunday mornings. It is well-known for its Christmas and Easter cantatas, presented at both services during those celebratory seasons. The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7-8 pm and Sunday mornings at 9:45 preceding 10:30 worship. Please check out the Music Ministry page for more information.
Thursday Bible Study
Reva Husby leads a women’s Bible study on Thursday mornings from 10-11 from mid-September to mid-May. Because the study is held in Reva’s home, there is a limit on the number of people who can be accommodated. When there is an opening, new members are welcome. To find out if there is a spot for you at this time, please contact Reva (revadew@arvig.net); she can tell you more about the current topic of study as well.
The Gentle Men
This men's group meets for breakfast in a reserved area of the restaurant at the Holiday Inn. The Gentle Men meet on the first and third Fridays of each month at 7:30 am. The time together provides an opportunity to become better acquainted, develop meaningful friendships, and discuss topics of interest and concern. All men are welcome to attend. For more information, please contact Phletus Williams (phletus@loretel.net; 218-863-5388).
UMW is an extremely active group at DLUMC. Please check out their web page.
Mary-Martha Circle
A UMW social circle for women meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 9:30 am Members take turns presenting a short devotional program, accompanied by discussion. Refreshments are served. A “Sunshine” ministry sees to cards for shut-ins, birthdays, and those ill/hospitalized. For more information please contact Gwen Marine (847-6602).
Women's Fellowship & Service
An informally organized group of women who gather monthly for fellowship and/or a service project. Some of the projects include baking for the fall bazaar, shopping for Christmas gifts for families in need, delivering Valentine “goodie bags” to shut-ins, and honoring graduating seniors at a breakfast in the spring. For more information, please contact Karen Schultz (schultzkd@arvig.net)
Friendly Visitors
For people who are shut-in, no longer able to get out and about, and/or are no longer able to attend worship at DLUMC. These people (or their friends) may request a Friendly Visitor, and volunteers from the congregation pay a friendly visit about once a month. For more information about this ministry, contact Lisa Braun, Ministry Coordinator, at 847-4818 or lisa@dlumc.org.
In Stephen Ministry congregations, trained lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps pastors and congregations provide quality caring ministry for as long as people need it. For more information check out the Stephen Ministry page. If you would like to request a Stephen Minister contact Lisa Braun, Ministry Coordinator, at 847-4818 or lisa@dlumc.org
Potluck Groups
Several groups of members from DLUMC (aka The Probers, The Methodizers, Water to Wine) meet for a potluck meal and fellowship about once a month. It is a time to get better acquainted with a smaller group of people and share good food and conversation, often about a selected topic of interest. If you are interested in joining/forming a potluck group, please contact the church office (secretary@dlumc.org).

Other Groups and Events
Other small groups for adults form for specific purposes, such as the 6-week DLUMC Weight Loss Challenge, the 8-week MyBible introductory class, Financial Peace University class, or an adult retreat at Northern Pines Camp. A DLUMC group gathers to have Movie Nites and to attend local events such as Let's Go Fishing and Tuesdays in the Park in summer and the Community Band Concerts. Often these events include time for a meal out and fellowship. Watch for announcements of these gatherings throughout the year.
