A challenge to transform the world!  Please make your pledge.

What if church were a verb? Doing. Acting. Working. Among United Methodists, it always has been. Now Methodists around the country are being challenged to continue this work with a new mission focus: Imagine No Malaria. This program is an extraordinary effort to eliminate death and suffering from malaria in Africa by 2015.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a global leader in the fight against malaria, looked for partners to help accomplish its goals. Why did this well-known foundation choose the United Methodist Church (UMC)? The UMC has worked in Africa for more than 160 years. It operates churches, schools, hospitals, and clinics across the continent in places where no one else will go. It is already “on the ground,” ready and willing to continue its role as a key delivery agent of healthcare in Africa.

On many fronts for many years, the UMC has brought aid to people around the world. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) distributed nearly $46 million dollars in aid in 2010, $56.6 million in 2009. During the hurricane season of 2005, which included Katrina, United Methodists gave over $66 million for hurricane relief efforts. Members of DLUMC sponsor many events which have as their primary purpose raising funds for mission projects both locally and around the world.

Let's join together to raise funds for this new challenge!
